Translator's Introduction

Enoch sees frankincense trees and other aromatic plants in the eastern mountains.

Then I went to another place in the wilderness and approached the eastern side of this mountain range.

There I saw aromatic trees giving off the fragrance of frankincense and myrrh, and the trees resembled almond trees.

REF And there I saw aromatic trees exhaling the fragrance of frankincense and myrrh, and the trees also were similar to the almond tree.

Notes & Key Terms

Frankincense and myrrh together evoke both the temple incense (Exodus 30:34) and the gifts brought to Jesus (Matthew 2:11). The almond tree (Hebrew: shaqed) is associated with God's watchfulness in Jeremiah 1:11-12.
