Summary

Isaiah 50 contains the THIRD SERVANT-SONG (vv. 4–9). Verse 6 — 'I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and spitting' — Christologically-anticipates Jesus' passion (Matt 26:67, 27:30). The Servant's-set-face-like-flint (v. 7) parallels Luke 9:51 ('he set his face to go to Jerusalem').
