Chapter Overview

Summary

Isaiah 37 is the SENNACHERIB CRISIS RESOLUTION — Hezekiah's prayer (vv. 14–20), Isaiah's prophecy of-deliverance (vv. 21–35), and the angelic-overnight-slaughter of-185,000-Assyrians (v. 36). The narrative parallels 2 Kings 19. Verse 36's miraculous-deliverance is one of-the-OT's-most-dramatic divine-interventions.

Notable Variants

37:14 'Hezekiah went up to the house of the LORD and spread it before the LORD' — prayer-spread-before-God; 37:36 angelic-overnight-slaughter (185,000 Assyrians); 37:38 Sennacherib assassinated-by-his-own-sons (cf. archaeological-confirmation).
