About This Tradition
The Septuagint Proverbs is the most freely-translated book of the LXX. Chapters are reordered (LXX 24:23-34 follows 30:14; chs 30-31 are split and interleaved between chs 24 and 25), and the Greek translator regularly paraphrased rather than rendered. Several extended additions have no Hebrew counterpart. The result is less a translation than a Greek wisdom anthology drawing on a Hebrew Vorlage.
